The Road to the Future Is Electric: Our Journey Across the U.S. in an EV

In 2025, we set off on a bold mission: to road trip across all 48 contiguous U.S. states in our fully electric Volkswagen ID. Buzz — a retro-futuristic van we call Sun Buzz. But this isn’t just a road trip. It’s a love letter to the planet, to slow travel, to unexpected places and people — and to the idea that sustainability doesn’t have to mean sacrifice.

This is the story of Taylor & Zervan, and this is our journey.

Why We’re Driving Electric

We believe adventure should leave memories — not emissions.

Every mile in Sun Buzz is powered by a deeper purpose: to prove that long-distance EV travel is not only possible, but exhilarating. Along the way, we’re documenting the highs, the hiccups, and the hidden gems that come from exploring the U.S. mindfully. We want to inspire others to see electric vehicles not just as transportation, but as a tool for change.

Promote sustainable travel through real-world EV road trip logistics

  1. Spotlight hidden gems: local food, natural beauty, and cultural pockets too often overlooked

  2. Partner with like-minded brands — from eco-lodging and EV charging networks to clean beauty and circular products

  3. Create high-quality content that educates, inspires, and entertains

  4. Showcase what’s possible when you trade gas stations for green choices

What We’ve Learned (So Far)

EV travel teaches you to slow down. To plan ahead. To linger a little longer in places you might have otherwise passed by. We’ve camped on ranches, charged  in the middle of nowhere, and shared moments with strangers in small towns we never planned on visiting.

We’ve also had breakdowns (yep, even EVs can need a timeout), unexpected detours, and plenty of learning moments — all part of the story we’re sharing openly, because sustainability isn’t about perfection. It’s about showing up anyway.

Our journey kicked off in our home state of California — and Sun Buzz has been rolling ever since. Here’s a look at the places we’ve explored so far:

  • 🌉 California
Bay Area • Joshua Tree • San Diego • Los Angeles • Bakersfield

  • 🌲 Oregon
Sunriver • Bend • Smith Rock State Park • Sisters • Salem • Multnomah Falls • Portland

  • 🏔️ Washington
Bellevue • Seattle • Port Angeles • Olympic National Park • Yakima • the heart of the Pacific Northwest

  • 🏜️ Idaho
    Boise • City of Rocks

  • 🏞️ Utah
Ogden • Salt Lake City • Park City

  • 🎰 Nevada
    Reno

What’s Next?

We’re still rolling — and the map is far from full. As we continue this journey across all 48 states, we’re dreaming bigger, shooting bolder, and deepening our commitment to people and planet.

Expect:

  • More reels, more scenic detours, more reviews.

  • Honest conversations about what it really takes to travel sustainably.

  • A behind-the-scenes look at the EV lifestyle — the good, the bad, and the battery anxiety.
